GCSE Science


Year 3 of our 5-year science curriculum.


This is the third year of our 5-year science curriculum which acts as a transition year and leads seamlessly into one of a choice of two GCSE Science Courses:

Combined Science: AQA Trilogy GCSE, specification number 8464 (combined science)


Separate Science: AQA Biology GCSE, specification number 8461, AQA Chemistry GCSE specification number 8462 and AQA Physics GCSE specification number 8463.







Communicable diseases

Introduction to the spread of disease and hygiene using laboratory techniques to grow and test bacterial cultures safely.

End of unit test

Required practical (RP) – investigating disinfectants and antibiotics.


Separation Techniques

Re-cap on the basic principles of separation techniques. In depth study of chromatography including calculations of Rf values.
