Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Soham Village College, a highly successful comprehensive 11-16 secondary school located in the town of Soham in East Cambridgeshire.

The College was established in 1958 as the seventh village college in Cambridgeshire, and was the inspiration of education pioneer Henry Morris.  Morris believed in the power of schools to transform their local communities by providing learning from cradle to grave - motivating and engaging learners of all ages and all abilities. In 1972, Soham Village College merged with the neighbouring Soham Grammer School creating the campus that largely still exists today.

We are a member of Anglian Learning, a group of like-minded local schools, which enables us to benefit from professional learning opportunities, partnership and collaboration.

Soham Village College is a delightful place to learn and to work. We have skilled, committed teams of teachers and staff who help create a supportive working atmosphere. Positive relationships between staff and students are a strength of the school and students have highly positive attitudes to learning.  Students clearly enjoy their learning and high-quality teaching motivates students to succeed. As a result, behaviour is a strength in classrooms and during social time.

The vision of Morris is still at the heart of our ethos today, our curriculum offer is ambitious and we pride ourselves on the wide range of enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities which we offer to our students.  We strive for excellence in and out of the classroom and we have been delighted by the successes of our students of all abilities and interests.

Our GCSE results have been consistently strong with excellent progress being made across English, maths, science and the wider curriculum. In addition to academic outcomes, we want to prepare our students for the wider world, creating confident, capable and caring young people who contribute to their community.

Soham Village College is a friendly and vibrant school. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit or find out more about us.
