TEACHER OF ART & DESIGN

Required from January 2021, an inspirational and enthusiastic teacher of Art and Design, capable of teaching throughout Key Stages 3 and 4.

Salary range £24,373 to £40,490 (pay award pending). Salary is dependent upon qualifications, skills and experience.

The successful candidate will join a forward looking and committed team of ambitious, reflective and outstanding teachers in a department which values excellent outcomes for all, individual exploration and expression, and self-directed learning.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Art and Design teacher to make a substantial contribution to the further development of this outstanding Art and Design Technology faculty with an excellent local reputation. While this is predominantly an Art Classroom Teacher role, the faculty works collaboratively and there may be the requirement to teach across the Art and Design Technology faculty. This could include Product Design or Food Preparation and Nutrition classes, most likely at Key Stage 3.

The successful candidate will have the qualities to motivate and inspire our students, as we seek to consistently bring out the best in them and will be required to teach at Key Stages 3 and 4. The ability to monitor and track the progress of year groups through data is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of the Art and Design & Technology team.

The school is oversubscribed and enjoys a considerable reputation in the local area for its academic excellence and caring ethos. In December 2016, Ofsted described the way in which the school promotes students’ personal development and its work to support students as outstanding.

Ofsted also identified “a culture of academic excellence” which is consistently reflected in the school’s GCSE results.

There is a strong culture of teaching and learning in the school and staff value highly the continuing professional development and research opportunities available. Ofsted praised the “good opportunities for staff to develop professionally” and commented that “staff are highly positive about the training they receive.” In addition they reported that “newly qualified teachers speak effusively about the support they receive.”

There are varied opportunities for career progression for staff at all levels.
